Our Values
(What We Practice)
Many churches have written values. However values are not things that are necessarily written down on paper. Values are those things that are written down on the heart. And that which is written down on the heart are those things that we truly practice. It’s not the things we say we believe that are true beliefs but those things we actually practice become the things we really believe. The following 10 things we desire to be true about what we value. We admit, we fall short of the 10 things written below
1. We value PEOPLE because they matter to God. This is shown in how we treat and care for one another in the body of Christ and how we care and treat those outside the body of Christ. This includes utilizing patience, love and respect within the body and sharing one’s faith with patience, love, and respect with those outside the body. We further value the “Harvest Field” Jesus spoke about. Lost people matter to God. (Evangelism & Ministry: Matthew 18:14; Luke 4:16-20; Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15; John 13:34-35; Romans 14:19; Ephesians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:14)
2. We value the “WORD OF GOD” and recognize that it is Authority and Applicable for life. Therefore, we place an importance on the teaching of His Word in corporate worship and in small group settings. (Teaching & God’s Word: 1 Chronicles 12:32; Isaiah 42:20; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; Acts 2:42)
3. We value the Church because it is the Body and BRIDE of Christ. It is God’s chosen tool to change the world. It should be culturally relevant and doctrinally pure. (The Church; Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 5:25-27; Revelation 2-3; 19:7; 21: 2-3)
4. We value “COMMUNITY” within the body of Christ. This is best served through small groups who care and minister to one another. We further value healthy small groups and believe that a small group reproducing itself finds itself in the center of God’s will. (Community & Small Groups: John 13:34-35; Acts 2:42; 1 Thessalonians 2:8; Hebrews 10:24-25)
5. We value SPIRITUAL GROWTH because it is God’s will for the individual Believer therefore, it is the personal responsibility of every believer to grow and mature in Christ. (Discipleship & Worship: 2 Timothy 2:2; Hebrews 5:12-17; 1 Peter 2:2)
6. We value “AUTHENTIC WORSHIP” and passionate prayer. This goes beyond a program or a service but rather a lifestyle and practice by the individual and the church corporately. We further value inspiring, meaningful and spirit led worship services. Whether traditional or contemporary, we strive for excellence and giving our best. (Worship & Prayer: Jeremiah 33:3; Psalm 33:3; 40:3; Ecclesiastes 5:1; Isaiah 6:1-3; Matthew 6:6; Luke 18:1; John 4:22-24; Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6-7)
7. We value EXCELLENCE, therefore, it should be the practice of the church in everything she does. (Excellence: Proverbs 27:17; Colossians 3:23)
8. We value “ACCOUNTABILITY.” We believe that every person is accountable to one another within the body of Christ. (Accountability & Small Groups: Matthew 18:15-20; Galatians 6:1-5; Colossians 1:28-29; )
9. We value MINISTRY AND MISSIONS. We believe that it is the responsibility of every church member to use their gifts and talents to serve and support the church and the world. This includes stewardship which means God owns our time, talents, and finances. (Stewardship & Ministry: Matthew 19:20-22; Luke 16:9; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:7,11; 16:2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7; Ephesians 4:11-14; 2 Timothy 1:6-7; 1 Peter 4:10-11 )
10. We value good STRUCTURE and Biblical authority. Therefore, we believe that the Divine Leader of the church is Jesus Christ and the human leader of the church is the Senior Pastor. The ministerial staff includes pastors, ministers and directors and they are to assist the Senior Pastor in equipping the church. Deacons serve to take the load off the Senior Pastor and other ministers, so they can lead the church more effectively. Church support staff assist the Pastors, Ministers, and Directors in their day to day duties. And Church members are to be equipped to fulfill their calling by using their gifts and talents to further the Kingdom of God. (Structure: Joshua 1:2-9; Acts 6:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 2 Timothy 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:7,17 )
